Your Choice: Do Nothing or Know Nothing Candidates or A Future for Your Kids

It’s now clear that Secretary Clinton and Mr. Trump will be the Democratic and Republican nominees.

Secretary Clinton is a generally fine person, but has a long history of exercising very poor judgment. Email Gate is the latest example. Far more important than her past, however, is her terribly limited vision for the future.

Secretary Clinton has no intention of actually changing things or at least not changing things very much — this at a time when we need radical surgery to fix our country.  She will not radically fix taxes. She will not radically fix Social Security. She will not radically fix healthcare. She will not radically fix banking. She will not radically fix energy policy. And she will not radically fix educational policy.

Nor is she prepared to deal with our greatest national security threat, which is North Korea’s development of long-range ballistic missiles. These missiles are being developed for one purpose only —  to deliver North Korea’s now rocket-ready miniaturized nuclear bombs directly to our doorsteps. Her National Security webpage doesn’t even include the two words: North Korea.

In addition to having a do-nothing platform, Secretary Clinton defines the word political.  She has publicly declared Republicans among her worst enemies.  For their part, the Republicans hold her in extreme contempt. Secretary Clinton’s election would reinvigorate our decades-long political civil war and produce four more years of political stalemate. Consequently, by choice and by circumstance, she is a do-nothing candidate.

As for Mr. Trump, his know-nothing candidacy is very well summarized by Tom Friedman’s column in the New York Times to wit: “(Mr. Trump) is utterly ignorant of policy, has done no homework, has engaged in racist attacks on a sitting judge, has mocked a disabled reporter, has impugned an entire religious community, and has tossed off ignorant proposals for walls, for letting allies go it alone and go nuclear and for overturning trade treaties, rules of war and nuclear agreements in ways that would be wildly destabilizing if he took office.”

In short, the conventional choices offer no choice.  They offer either the status quo or one of our country’s darkest hours.
